Tagging Shortcuts? I'd rather not

So I opened my "recent document" folder, right-clicked on one of the items, and used the quick tag option.    It wasn't until later I discovered that I did not tag the file - rather, I tagged the shortcut (LNK) file, which, of course, will soon disappear from my recent files.

Can tag2find recognize that this is a shortcut and tag the referenced file instead of the shortcut?
