Maybe this is out of bounds of your development strategy, but this way have some advantages. I tell you my vision of working:
1. In every folder is a file, like descript.ion, which contains filenames in that folder, tags and may be some other metainformation.
2. tag2find scans this files in first time and updates it periodically, syncing it with it own database.
Advantages of that way:
1. Files can be easily transferred between file systems. Also, I think it can solve problem with FAT32 system. Also you can use this program with SMB FS or other.
2. You can use some kind of scripts to easily generate tags to existing files if you like me already have files with metainformation.
3. Easy transfer of your folders, no problem with packing and unpacking.
Thank you for good idea of software but now I cannot use it because it have too many limitations...

Hi,

we have been thinking about it, but has a lots of problems: it will only work if you are willing to move, rename, or copy the file. Well, renaming within the same folder could work. But copying or moving to a different folder won't. But as a matter of fact, we have been thinking about this approach as well and we could discuss it again once we have open-sourced tag2find.

Thanks for your input!

Best regards,
Martin
