I have a lilttle problem(Sry if this was already brung up I looked around and didn't find the topic) with tag2find and external drive.  Even my drive has power managment built in the drive I like to turn it off when not using it.

So when I decide to to turn it back on to tag couple new files, tag2find doesn't recongize i turn it on so I can't.  The only solution I got is to turn off external drive and restart whole computer(i'd be ok with just logging off but rebooting every time lol)and turn on external right before I log on.

Plz say there is a easier way for tag2find to recongize my external is turned on while I'm logged in, thx in advance(p.s luv this program, genuis!)

Hi,

we are sorry, external devices are not supported at the moment for exactly this reason (and because tagged files would not be recognized at another computer and file tracking will not work for files being tagged on another computer, etc.).

Said that, I can image two possible workarounds:
  • Start -> Run -> services.msc, then stop and restart "tag2find service",
  • or really pull the plug of the external device and re-attach it

Hope this will help you. Would be glad if you could tell me if this worked.

Best regards,
Martin

So, about tagging on an external harddrive: even if I put the database of tag2find on the external harddrive, it won't recognize the tags if I connect the hard drive to another computer here tag2find is installed??

Thus, if I have an external hard drive, it is actually totally useless to tag the files on it, if I have to switch between connected computers?

thanks for the answer
