Hi,
I'm very sorry for the late response. It just slipped through
Thank you also for your offer to support our development. We
really appreciate it. At the moment there are great things going on within the development team as we are turning everything upside down. So to be honest, I cannot really comment on this right now, because the next few weeks will decide the direction of development. While invisible to the public, we are very busy and near our milestone of tag2find Next Generation (http://blog.tag2find.com/2007/06/25/tag2find-next-generation-tagging/).
I like your idea of "early adopters licenses", this would be a great possibility for us and you as users as well. We will keep this idea in the backlog and come back to it depending on the outcome of the next view weeks. Sorry for being a little vague here but I can definitely tell you that we are already discussing it and happy to get ideas like this from you.
The final licensing conditions have not yet been fixed, so I don't know if it will be per user or per computer. But I am absolutely sure and committed to ensure getting a fair solution for everyone, especially users like you who have contributed a lot to our development with your feedback.
Regarding the domain issue: our current plan is to provide a very affordable (if not even free) version for home users. Our current assumption is that domains are an indication of business use. Of course, like you say, there are also home users with domains and I expect this to raise with the availability of Windows Home Server, which I think also provides domains (but I'm not sure). Therefore I don't expect the existence of a domain alone to be a requirement for a business license.
Sorry for not being able to give you more precise answers. At the moment tag2find NG takes all our time ;-)
Best regards,
Martin
