tag2find donnot support synctoy, which can sync the files between the computer and movable drivers. And it also cannot save the tags, which I download a file to save as the name of old file.

And it also cannot save the tags for the file, while I download and save a file as the name of an old file.

I have tried for half a day. It seems that tag2find donnot maintain tags for overwritten files.
So, if the tagged files are overwritten, tag2find will lost them, such cases occures during using syncToy (some times), or updating file by downloading from net or by saving as from a software.

Hi,
for us tags are in the semantic of sticking with the file. So if you overwrite the file, yes, the tags are lost, as it is basically a "new" file. I agree with you that this conflicts with most file synchronizers out there and I am having the same trouble as I share a lot of data between multiple computers. We are likely to think this issue over again and maybe decide that a file should be automatically re-tagged if it is overwritten.
Any opinions on this issue is highly welcome! What would you prefer? Overwriting files also overwrites tags or overwriting files causes the file to be automatically tagged again?
Best regards, Martin

I prefer that the overwriting files causes the file to be automatically tagged again?
I wish you decide this and add this function to your software tomorrow, so that I can use it soon.
Maybe there are too cases to be considered:
Case 1. the downloading files, such as mp3, one should consider the new tags for an overwritting file.
Case 2. the personal files, such as *.doc and my favorite *.tex, one should keep the old tags automatically.
Tagging the file with appropriate view pattern, is very important. But, It is strange that, I have only searched that tag2find has such good function, though still not adaquate for my use.

I will write another suggestion post on the "view pattern" of tags.

If it's not computationally intensive, re-tagging the files would be nice, as long as there is an easier way to manage the existing tags, so if a user really wants to remove all tags from a group of files they can somehow "un tag" them, and if someone wants to remove a tag from the system, they have a way to do so.

My opinoin is adding the feature of tagging folder only. In most cases, the grouped file will be put to same folder and we don't want to tag the files under it separately. Shall we support tagging the foder?
