Tag manipulation

I think it would be nice to be able to quickly rename, delete, and consolidate tags. I don't see any way to do this, and it is frustrating.
I managed to accidentally let the auto tag feature tag a bunch of my files, and now I can't get those tags to go away easily. I know I can go into edit tags and click the minus sign with no files selected, but if I accidentally click the minus sign on a tag I want to keep, I'm screwed because the only way to get it back is to click on the plus sign, which tags ALL of my files with that tag. d'oh!
Renaming and consolidating could be essentially the same thing. For example, let's stay I started tagging all of my pictures with the tag "picture" and later I got lazy and started tagging them with "pics" - if I could go back and rename one so they were identical, that would be fabulous. Of course there are also instances where I might be consistent but later realize there's a better tag I could have used.
Finally, while tagging, it would be really nice to have the option to sort files by date or file type. Extra points if you can sort by multiple columns!

Hi,
thanks for the suggestion. We are currently rewriting the UI and we will also concentrate on usability issues like this. Just a quick tip: if you accidentially click on "remove a tag" (a.k.a. "minus"), you can undo using the undo feature (Ctrl-Z, or toolbar).
Best regards,
Martin
