The floating toolbar is nice and all, but I'd really love to see a toolbar for the taskbar. If you've seen the search toolbar for Windows Desktop Search or Google Desktop Search then you know what I am talking about.

Like this:

I agree, it would be better to be able to have it in the taskbar, at least as an option.
I also read about that in TechCrunch, by the way.

And, I'm from Freistadt, so we're nearly neighbors Smiley Where do you have you offices - or do you still work from home?

It's cool to see that there are more innovative Austrian IT-software corporations. (I co-founded a local search project a few weeks ago, but we haven't yet got anything to see. Look at www.looocal.com (http://www.looocal.com/) if you're interested. And: It's cooler than it reads on the web page, but we haven't yet found any marketing-able words to describe what we want to do Wink )

In fact, we already provide a taskbar integration, for both, taskbar and Explorer's toolbar. If you right-click your taskbar and select "Toolbars" you should be seeing an entry "tag2find Toolbar", if you checked the appropriate option in the installer (its enabled by default). It might be possible that this option is only available after a reboot or at least a new login (we are currently working on this issue).

If you do not have this option, it would be nice to get your software configuration, as we have to treat this as a bug then.

We are situated in an office building in Hagenberg, so yes, we are indeed neighbours Wink

Best regards,
Martin

PS: I'm currently on holiday and I am writing this from a public terminal in the hotel lounge. So please be patient with my responses. I (and the rest of theteam) will be back in office January 3rd, so you can expect much faster responses then.

Yeah, this is really cool. Probably you can do some kind of shell integration to make this option more prominent.

I have only seen the entry when the floating deskbar was open - not when it was closed. Would be cool if it could be there always.

We will work on that. Unfortunately I'm not aware of an offical Windows API to interact with the shell to display toolbars. But it has to be possible somehow, Google Desktop Search can do it Wink

Hmm, I'll have to investigate this. The floating form and the shell integration do not directly interact with each other. In other words, it should be no difference if the floating form is open or not. It even should not matter if tag2find frontend is executed, it just depends on the service.

Could you double-check if the entry is really not available after you close the Floating TagTextBox and/or tag2find.exe?

Thanks for your help!

Hmm, following up on myself here... Krispin may have found something about the Windows Shell API I missed on first look, so we might be able to add automatically showing the taskbar integration after installation. I'm not sure, though, if we can get it into 0.8.1.

Regards,
Martin

Yeah, we are working on this one too. Integration in the most major office apps is on our TODO list.

Best regards,
Martin
