We just found out about an issue we thought was already solved: Certain programs, when saving changes to a file in fact do not overwrite the existing file but create it as a new one.

This leads to lost tags, as the attached tags are deleted in this case, because it is in fact a new file with the old name.

Up to now we identified two programs exposing this behavior:
* Macromedia Dreamweaver
* TeXnicCenter

Please help us identify other programs which expose this behavior. We will address this issue in v0.10, which we will start working on imediately after releasing 0.8.3.

Best regards,
Martin

Word 2003 also has the same problem as the 2 mentioned above.

Hi,

we are currently debugging the issue with office, we found that this happens especially in Windows Vista. Unfortunately it is a "heisenbug", a bug which does not always occure, some saves will overwrite the tags, some won't. We are going to do a deep analysis of this and maybe re-implement major parts of our tagging and tracking-algorithms.

Sorry for the inconvenience!

Best regards,
Martin

Not sure if this falls in the same category but when you zip a file into either a .rar or .zip the tags are lost on the zipped files.  After you decompress them you need to retag them.

Yes, you are right. This is due to the fact that no ZIP-Program known to me is able to deal with Alternate Data Streams (and the ZIP-Standard does not contain support for them).

Best regards,
Martin
