Hi there!

A very neat addition to tag2find would be the support of removable devices (e.g., USB sticks, external HDDs). This request emerges from the fact that I have a set of external HDDs I plug in and out on demand (each of which contains their own domain of relevant files to certain tasks, don't ask   ).

If there is no easy way to determine the type and connectivity of a given device, I can imagine a simple work-around in the way that by the time the result set of a given search is built, every such element is probed against its accessibility. This way, tagged files that are currently unavailable could be displayed slightly opaque (or whatever). Well, this of course might have the (possibly show-stopping) implication of heavy (?) HDD access. Anyway, I'm sure you'd know best what to do, so I'll just confront you with my wish, and not the solution  Cheesy

edit: On a totally unrelated note: it's kinda weird to post in English knowing you're all (minus 1) native German-speakers like myself. Alright, enough already with the drivel.

Mobile devices are on our TODO list and we expect to support them in the (near) future. Main problem with most external devices is the fact that most of them are formatted FAT32 and currently file tracking depends on special features only available on NTFS.

As external media grow (I heard the rumor of a 1TB external HDD array in a 3.5" USB box today), I expect more of them to change to NTFS instead. Of course we will investigate and work on possibilities for reliable file tracking on FAT32 as well; after all, we use USB memory sticks ourselves Wink

Regarding your comment about the English language, I agree that it is some kind of weird answering you in English when we had a nice German chat via instant messenger only some hours ago. Still, for the sake of our non-German speaking readers, I suppose we can live with English Wink

Best regards,
Martin
