Integration into IE and FF would be helpful, possibly the ability to tag a file when you are choosing the save location, or whether to open or save it.
Eventually integration into Office 2003 and 2007 would be helpful, so that you could tag it in the save dialog. possibly just an extra text field underneath file name.

Very good suggestions. Integration in popular application is on our TODO list. Unfortunately, from the technical aspect, it is not so easy to extend the global "Save" and "Open" dialogs, as the applications could not cope with it correctly.

For version 0.10, which is scheduled end of January, we will provide you with a feature to easily be notfied of new, untagged files, which can be used as a replacement for the issue above.

Best regards,
Martin

I might be wrong, it has been a while since I last used the technology myself, but can't you implement this quite simply by using so called hooks?

The problem is not only attaching into the Save-Dialog itself but also how to make the application aware of it and make it handle it appropriately. Only because a user clicks the save-button does not always mean a file with this name is created. It can also still be called somehow else or not being saved at all.

Therefore it will most likely be necessary to hook into the individual applications and make them aware of tag2find, one "general purpose" solution is quite unlikely (unfortunately).

I confess that I never tried to hook into the "global" save dialog provided by common controls, but of course I'm always open to any suggestions. If you have any hints and recommendations, including development documents you can point out to me, please let me know!

Best regards,
Martin

make it simple as detecting when a new .doc or .xls or .ppt (ect..) is saved then a tagit popup should come out and ask what the user wants to tag it with.

I agree with fredro. It's as simple as tag2find monitoring the download folder (for Mozilla Firefox or Internet Explorer ), My Documents  (for Office files), P2P dowload folders, etc

When a new file is created/downloaded, tag2find should:
a) Display a dialog reporting a new file is available to tag
or
b) Enqueue the file in a to-be-tagged-files later queue. Later, you open this list and tag all the files pending to be tagged

Tag2Find should have a list of directories to monitor for new files, like desktop searching programs

Add this to the next auto-tagger feature and tag2find will rock, because now, is a pain to be tagging manually al the files

Greetings from Spain

An additional thought on office integration.  It might be easier (as hooking the save dialogue seems to be a bit difficult) to have a T@F toolbar, with a Tagbox in it. Then you can tag the file as you work?  the tag box could provide very similar functionality to the floating one, except its only for the current file...
Make sense?

And another thought on integration, the ability to tag emails from within outlook?  Again this is from a work perspective where I often have a single mail that refers to multiple clients?

Hi,

we are thinking about this one too. I'm happy that we as developers are thinking along the same line as you, the users. It shows us that we are working in the correct direction.

Thank you very much for your ongoing support and your great suggestions!

Best regards,
Martin

Why not just use http://www.taglocity.com for that?
