Currently when I save a new version of a document, it is treated as a totally new file, with new tags being added from scratch.
is it possible to copy the tags to tbe new version, I am guessing this is only possible where the file has tags stored in the metadata.
That way I can edit existing tags, rather than create a whole new set.

Hi,

at the moment, this is not possible. We will, however, in future most likely embed the tags (at the users option) directly as keywords in OLE documents and extract them from there if we find a new file. This way the tags of a "save as" file should be preserved.

Best regards,
Martin

Hi Martin,
I'd add my vote to this request... I often copy tagged files to USB key to use in laptop presentations on the road. I may make minor changes to those files and then copy them back to the PC directory to update the files there.

Because the original tags are lost upon copying to the key, I then have to re-tag every file I'm "returning" to the pc directory, and to be honest I don't always remember what the original tags were, so I use copy and paste a lot.  Cheesy

Having the tags saved as keywords would help a lot - any idea when this may become available?. Keep up the good work - tag2find is still a program I frequently use and recommend.

Regards,

Colin.

PS Although it is a different methodology, I was wondering if you had come across "Keybreeze"?  Here you can give a file a keyword to quickly open/run it from your keyboard, but if the keyword is missing it can use the file name as a search helper.  Maybe it could spark some ideas for tag2find?

Great idea, it's better if you do a reverse of this. Based on tags, create and organize the files in a directory structure,
of tag more used until “tag” less used.

Sorry for my english
