Hi, Just run into this error.
First the details
Running XP All the latest patches (I assume, its a company machine)
Installed T2F 0.10.0.14

When I move a file from one folder to another
Eg from
...\Assignment - Eviro Analysis\Holding
to
...\Assignment - Eviro Analysis
using drag and drop, the edit new file dialogue pops up
and asks me to enter new tags.  none of the previous tags appear.
File is a PDF, but it does the same for a mind manager file.

One hint on the source of the problem might be
If I move the file back (either using undo, or dragging it back to its source directory) the tags all re-appear.  So it would seem that the monitoring of the directory is not refreshing on a move (I am sure there is some form of a technical term for that...Smiley )

Hi!

Thanks for your bug report. It is odd however, as D&D uses the same tracking of files as any other movement.

Could you try to rename the files directly in explorer? Does this work? Does moving it around work?

Could you perform a search for the file? Is it just the New File Notify that keeps popping up? What does TagBrowser say if you select "Edit Tags..." from the context menu at the new location?

Best regards,
Martin

PS: another idea, we had a similar bug report once, could you try to reboot your computer, the tracking-problem vanished then. We are still searching for the exact issue causing this.

Best regards,

Martin
Its a new morning, so my machine is freshly rebooted.
The problem remains, these are the actions I took
If I move the file out of its original folder the new file notify pops up.
If I right click and select edit tags, no tags are displayed
If I search for it (using the tags that were attached to it in its source folder) it still appears in the search results, but the file cannot be found.

If I rename the file, the new file pop up does not appear, but the tags are lost.  If I undo the name change the tags re-appear.

Hi,

thank you very much for the followup. Something in the file-tracking seems to have been screwed up. I will try to investigate this as soon as possible.

We are moving to a new office today (at least we should, but there are some delays), so please allow me a day or two to come back to this issue. I will definitely look into it. As we cannot reproduce the problem on our machines, we will have to do a deeper investigation. Maybe I'll have some questions later on in this process and hope you are going to have time to answer me.

One question for the beginning: are you using explorer or another shell (like Total Commander)?

Best regards,
Martin

I can confirm the problem now for Windows XP. Windows Vista is working, this is why it first skipped my tests.

Sorry for the inconvenience, we are now planing an emergency bug fix release as soon as we have the issue resolved.

Best regards,
Martin

Ok, now I'm a little bit astonished... I thought I expected the same bug, but after looking again, no I don't... I will keep researching this...

Martin, sorry for the frustration....
I am happy to answer questions, and will wait patiently for your responses.  I continue to use the tool regardless...
So expect other observations as I continue

Any possible frustration would entirely our own fault and not yours, so don't worry Wink

Thanks for your continued very valuable feedback!

Best regards,
Martin
